Plastic Pallets Change Logistics
- Dec 03, 2018 -

Standardization rate increased significantly

The inconsistent standards of pallets, turnaround boxes and other loading tools will increase the logistics cost of enterprises. With the rapid development of logistics industry, the lack of effective convergence between upstream and downstream logistics standards has led to the rise of logistics costs, which has become a bottleneck restricting the overall efficiency of the logistics system.

In 2016, Zibo, Dezhou and Linyi were identified as the third batch of pilot cities for logistics standardization. In 2017, Jinan and Qingdao were also identified as pilot cities for supply chain system construction. After the start of the pilot project, Shandong Province took standardized pallets as the starting point, and vigorously promoted the circulation and sharing of standard pallets, the promotion of consistent operation of turnover boxes, the exploration of "digital pallets" open sharing mode, and the strengthening of standardization construction of logistics facilities and equipment.

Each pilot city attaches great importance to logistics standardization. Taking Dezhou as an example, a leading group of the whole city's logistics standardization pilot work, headed by the deputy mayor in charge, was set up to promote the work as a whole. In order to facilitate the exchange between pilot enterprises, the city has set up a workbench account and Wechat Group, inviting well-known tray rental enterprises at home and abroad, such as Merchants Lukai and Centralized Insurance, to come to Dezhou to explain their business knowledge. Municipal Business Bureau, Finance Bureau and Quality Supervision Bureau jointly issued the "monthly report system on the establishment of logistics standardization pilot projects", and established the monthly meeting system of three departments to promote project implementation. The city has organized some enterprises to visit and study in Tianjin, Weihai, Tangshan, Chongqing and other places, attended the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Logistics Industry Integration Development Summit Forum, and carried out integration and docking with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Logistics Standardization.

"Since the pilot year, the standard pallet ownership of pilot enterprises has increased from 44% to 69%, and the lease rate has increased from 8% to 39%. The belt conveyance rate increased from 0.98% to 2.15%, and the time limit of loading and unloading increased from 3.18 tons per hour to 6.24 tons before the pilot project, and the efficiency increased by 96%. Wang Erguo, deputy secretary and researcher of the Party Group of Dezhou Business Bureau, introduced.

"The use of standardized pallets in enterprises has increased from 50,000 before the pilot project to 205,900, and the turnover basket has increased from 100,000 to 266,900. The cargo handling efficiency and cargo handover efficiency of enterprises have increased by more than two times on average, the cargo breakage rate has decreased by 30%, and the logistics cost of enterprises has decreased by 30%. At the same time, through tray leasing, the backlog of logistics equipment is reduced, and the waste of social resources is reduced. Zibo City Business Bureau responsible person introduction.

It is reported that in 2016, Zibo, Linyi and Dezhou were identified as the third batch of pilot cities for logistics standardization. Each City allocated 80 million financial funds for the construction of logistics standardization, as an incentive for enterprises to standardize the transformation of logistics facilities and equipment. In 2017, the Ministry of Commerce designated Jinan and Qingdao as pilot cities for the construction of supply chain system. Each City allocated 80 million yuan, mainly for the construction of logistics standardization.

At present, the standardization rate of pallets in Shandong pilot cities averages 44%, which is 14 percentage points higher than that before the pilot project; the transportation rate of strips has increased from 2% to 9.98%, nearly four times higher than that before the pilot project; the logistics cost of pilot enterprises accounts for 27% of operating income, which is 10 percentage points lower than that before the pilot project; and the handling cost has decreased from the average before the pilot project. 49.4 yuan per ton fell to 33.9 yuan per ton, a decrease of 31.4%, and the rate of damage decreased from 0.8% to 0.44% on average before the pilot project, a decrease of 45%.
